Meet Ginger Poag, LCSW, CEMDR, SEP
Founder of Alma del Sol Retreats
Ginger Poag is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified EMDR Therapist, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, and EMDRIA-approved Consultant with nearly three decades of experience helping individuals heal from trauma, anxiety, and life transitions.
As a trauma specialist and retreat leader, Ginger is known for her ability to create environments where women feel both safe and empowered — spaces where meaningful change can happen naturally through connection, nervous system regulation, and thoughtfully guided experiences.
Her work integrates evidence-based trauma therapies including EMDR and Somatic Experiencing with experiential practices that help women reconnect with themselves beyond the stress of everyday life.
Clinical Expertise & Professional Background
Throughout her career, Ginger has worked with individuals healing from PTSD, childhood trauma, anxiety disorders, narcissistic abuse, and complex trauma presentations. Her approach recognizes that trauma lives not only in memory, but in the nervous system, and healing requires addressing both.
In addition to her private practice, Ginger has worked in nationally respected treatment centers across the United States and has supported survivors of mass trauma events both domestically and internationally.
She is also a published author whose work has been incorporated into social work education programs in the United States and abroad. As an EMDR consultant, she provides professional consultation to therapists seeking advanced training in trauma treatment.
The Alma del Sol Philosophy
Ginger founded Alma del Sol Retreats from a simple but powerful belief:
Healing accelerates when women are given the space to slow down.
While traditional therapy is powerful, Ginger recognized that stepping outside of daily responsibilities and into a carefully curated retreat environment often allows deeper integration, connection, and transformation.
Alma del Sol Retreats were created to offer more than just travel experiences. Each retreat is intentionally designed to combine:
-
Beautiful destination settings
-
Meaningful connection with other women
-
Nervous system restoration
-
Personal growth experiences
-
Joy, laughter, and adventure
Her retreats are known for blending emotional depth with lightness and fun — because true healing includes both.
Her Approach to Retreat Leadership
What makes Ginger’s retreats unique is her ability to balance professional clinical expertise with warmth and relatability. Guests often describe her presence as calming, grounded, and genuine.
Rather than positioning herself as the "expert in the room," Ginger sees herself as a facilitator of meaningful experiences — creating the structure, safety, and atmosphere that allow women to reconnect with themselves and each other.
Her retreats attract women who are often successful, capable, and strong for everyone else — and ready for a space where they can finally exhale.
Why Women Choose Alma del Sol Retreats
Women who attend Alma del Sol Retreats often say they come for the location, but leave because of the experience.
They come for:
-
The beauty of Tuscany
-
The warmth of Costa Rica
-
The adventure of Bali
But what they remember most is:
-
The friendships formed
-
The laughter shared
-
The sense of reset they didn’t realize they needed
This is the kind of experience women talk about long after they return home.
Connect With Ginger
Ginger believes the most meaningful work happens when women feel seen, supported, and inspired to invest in themselves.
If you feel drawn to one of the Alma del Sol experiences, she would love to welcome you.
